ESPN has bought the TV rights to almost the entire SEC for $2.25 BILLION. This doubles the income for each school from last years deals with their TV partners. The deal kills the idea of an SEC channel and also kills the SEC’s relationship with Raycom/Lincoln Financial/Jefferson Pilot Sports. You can also look forward to subscribing to ESPNU since a lot of SEC programming will end up there. Bobby Petrino has a photographic memory. Marcus Monk was waived from the Bears. Speaking of Stacy Lewis, she finished tied for 3rd at her first LPGA event as a pro…the US Women’s Open. Petrino’s not a big talker. But The Hog Blogger knows what he’s getting into with Bobby. The Razorbloggers have been counting down the best football games of ’07 (with video)…my fav’s South Carolina and LSU. AOL fanhouse has a story up about if College Football teams were comedians…Arkansas would be Larry the Cable Guy. Which lead me to two other such lists…Rappers-Kool Keith…and Simpsons Characters-Groundskeeper Willie.

Finally two stories unrelated to the Hogs…So Long to Deadspin’s Will Leitch, I echo what the Expats wrote…and RIP to UGA VI.

UPDATE: I forgot to mention that today is the last day on Nolan Richardson’s Contract with the UA and it’s also Chancellor John White’s last day on the job.

I’m Not Missing

I’ve been really busy with “real life” and since most major sports are in their dead period I didn’t make updating a priority. So, I looked up today and realized “There is alot that I’ve missed that I need to cover”, so here I am. I haven’t went and pulled up all the stories that I’ll be putting in the trough yet but don’t be surprised when you see a couple of seprate troughs. Thanks for hanging around!

Arkansas LB Freddie Fairchild Arrested

Hog LB Freddie Fairchild was arrested today on suspicion of third-degree battery and false imprisonment. The incident was with his girlfriend. Head Coach Bobby Petrino has suspended him indefinitely until it has been determined if he has violated team rules.

Fairchild “attacked (the woman) causing injuries to her head, face, extremities and pelvis,” according to a preliminary probable cause statement from a Fayetteville police detective. The complaint said she reported that he would not allow her to leave for several hours.

Fairchild has been in a “domestic relationship” with the women intermittently for over a year, the statement said.

FTB:Hired Goon Neinas enters…

This Week From The Bench, Robert Shields covers Chuck Neinas and the Heisman Debacle…

To help this search, the UA has apparently hired a consultant named Chuck Neinas. You may remember the name of this hired goon from the last time he was in Arkansas when he angered and insulted many Razorback fans when comparing the Razorback Program to Rutgers as one of the arguments for moving all games to Fayetteville in the Great Stadium Debate. This Neinas guy is bad news, and a sure sign the hiring process is headed in the wrong direction.
