I’ve been MIA for about a week so here’s a recap of the week that was…

The Razorbloggers have their wrapup of the ugly loss to Alabama and the Good, Bad, and Ugly. Hog wide receiver Marques Wade will have surgery on his knee and will be out for the rest of the season. WR Lucas Miller suffered a concussion during the Alabama game as well. Michael Smith impressed with a 91 yard on 19 carries day.

The Expats suggest looking ahead to what’s infront of us….and reminds us of the best and worst games against the Horns.

Raycom has picked up the UA-Florida game for another 11:30 am start. Felix Jones scored another TD this past Sunday Night. David Lee brought the Wildhog to Miami and helped the Fins crush the Pats Sunday. The 2009 baseball schedule is out. The NCAA has denied the appeal of the sanctions against the Track and Field program. Finally AD Jeff Long now appreciates what the LR games bring to the University.

Wednesday Trough

The Razorbloggers have their Texas Preview up. Hurricane Ike might make an appearance at Saturday’s Game. Here’s Audio from Bobby Petrino’s Monday Press Conference. Luigs thinks we can hang with the Horns. Here’s a look at Hog QB Casey Dick and Texas QB Colt McCoy. What are your favorite wins over UT? The Expats have the Hogs last in their SEC Power Poll Ballot.

Speaking of the Expats they have a Q&A up with former Hog RB James Rouse..Part 1 & Part 2. The Diamond Hogs are starting Fall Practice. Razorback Catherine White, of the Cross Country Team, was named SEC Athlete of the Week.

Finally, Felix Jones had a nice debut Sunday…D-Mac had a neck stinger end his debut prematurely Monday night. Peyton Hillis and Marcus Harrison also were in on big plays for their respective teams.

Monday Trough

Arkansas Pitcher Stephen Richards was arrested for public intoxication. Here’s notes and audio from Bobby Petrino’s Sunday Teleconference and Monday’s Press Conference.

One of the Expats almost “died” when he first heard the score mid-way thru the WIU game. Here’s a report card on the game. The Razorbloggers have the Good, Bad, and Ugly. Looking forward…Petrino hopes the old cliche about the most improvement comes between weeks 1 and 2 is true. Also, the last time Louisiana-Monroe opened the season with trips to Auburn and Arkansas (2004) the Warhawks lost in a shutout to Auburn and was blown out the next week by the Hogs. Auburn shut them out again this week…Will history repeat itself?

The Women’s Soccer team defeated Oral Roberts to improve to 2-1 on the season. Finally, Former Hog Brett Goode has made the Packers as a long snapper.

Walk-Off Trough

In case you haven’t heard, the Diamond Hogs recaptured 8th place in the SEC standings with a sweep of #13 South Carolina. The weekend Series at Baum started with a bang when Freshman Jacob House hit a 1-0 pitch into the visiting bleachers for a walk-off grand slam, giving the Hogs a 12-11 win Friday Night. Here’s Video. That powered the Hogs to the sweep with finals of 6-3 Saturday and 4-2. The Hogs Followed that up with a win over Mississippi Valley St. 12-3. The Hogs have a RPI of 16 and are still projected to make a NCAA Regional. AS360 says the season hinges on the final SEC series of the year, at Mississippi St. Here’s a look at team leader Logan Forsythe.

Here’s some sound from last week’s Post Spring Press Conference with Bobby Petrino. The Razorbloggers talk about the High Expectations that the spring has brought. Frank Broyles will be inducted into the AD Hall of Fame. The second annual Paul Eells Stars N Strikes Celebrity Softball Game and Golf Outing is coming up and KATV is publishing more of Paul’s Calls…Via Slophouse and Expats. and Freshman forward Michael Sanchez is headed to China with the Reach USA squad to play in exhibition games against Chinese Pros.

Hog Tyler Hill and Ladyback senior Dacia Barr have been named to the SEC Good Works Team. Alex and Andy McClary, Long Distance Track Hogs, are Profiled. The Ladybacks have another Basketball Signee. The Ladyback Softball team has been selected to the NCAA Tournament. The Ladyback Tennis team has made the Sweet Sixteen. The Ladyback Golfers have advanced out of their regional to the NCAA Championships. The Men’s Golf team looks to do the same.

Finally one of my favorite sites, the one who’s disappearance prompted me to start the Hawg Blawg, has reappeared. The Slop is now being hosted at ARSN online. I won’t stop posting although they probably do a better job of what I aim to do. I just wanted to take a second to thank all of you for coming here and keeping me company. I really appreciate it. Friday Trough

Welcome to the weekend. Spring Football Practice opened up on Thursday. But, weather forced them indoors yesterday and today. Here’s some rules from the athletic dept. when you finally do get to attend practice. The Razorbloggers preview the spring practices. Petrino will be holding a High School Coaches Clinic. He also spoke to the media on Monday and here’s some audio clips from the Slophouse. Speaking of the Slophouse they point out an article that ran in the New York Times chronicling the road DMac had to take to get to the big time.

In Hoops News… Nate Rakestraw was given his release from the team earlier this week. No word on where he’s headed. The Expats remind everyone that it was 14 years ago today that Nolan, Corliss, Scotty, and the boys brought Fayetteville their first NCAA Tournament title. Time flies indeed. They also show how all of this years final four teams have links to Arkansas’ NCAA past. Sonny Weems won the college basketball version of the slam dunk contest and made Sportcenter’s Top Plays. Wally Hall talks about a domino effect that could send John Pelphrey to Kentucky.

The Diamond Hogs finally got a win with a 7-6 thriller at Missouri State Tuesday Night. But rain returned to the Razorbacks forecast when a game with Mississippi Valley State forced them to postpone Wednesday’s game to May 12th. Now the hogs are looking to JUCO transfer Justin Wells to make his first D-1 start Saturday during the Auburn series that starts tonight.

Ladyback diver Madison Palmer was named to the 2008 Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Community Service Team. The Hog Tennis Squad will take it’s final roadtrip of the season this weekend when they travel to Ole Miss. Chris Wyrick was names Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs. Kevin Trainor, who was the AD for External Affairs, will continue to serve in his current role with the revised title of Associate Athletic Director for Media Relations and Communications.
