The Trough

Former Hog Corliss Williamson is retiring and becoming an assistant coach at Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock.
Corliss was part of the ’94 Championship squad and won an NBA title with Detroit in 2004. The Hogblogger has a nice tribute up.

Danny Nutt Banned From Coaching Booth
I didn’t realize that the NCAA had restrictions on who could be in the “Bench Area” or the coaches booth. D. Nutt, who was seen Saturday in the coaches booth, has been notified that he is no longer allowed in either area. The UA won’t be punished for the previous transgressions.

UPDATE: The Hogblogger links to a picture from whoopig.net which shows DN in the booth.

McFadden Going Pro…or Not

ESPN’s Pat Forde talked to Darren McFadden’s Mother last week and Forde quoted her as saying…

“He told me [Friday], ‘Mom, I’ll be through in December,'” Mini Muhammed said. “I said, ‘What you mean?’ He said, ‘I’ll be through.’ That’s what he told me.”

Asked if that meant her son would be entering the draft and joining the NFL, Muhammed said, “Yeah. He’ll be making big money.”

The next day she backtracked and her son held a press conference after Saturday’s scrimmage to deny the reports. The Links Below are the original ESPN story, The Morning News story about McFadden’s Press Conference, and AOL Fanhouse’s opinion on the story which I tend to agree with (He’s Leaving regardless of what he’s saying now).

AOL Fanhouse SEC Previews

The guys at AOL Fanhouse have a couple of posts up worth mentioning. First up is the 2006 Season Recap. They Name Houston Nutt and his escapades the most ridiculous moment and name Darren McFadden as the leagues best player. Also they’ve got a list of the biggest shoes to fill. Although not in the top five Arkansas’ Malcom Shepard get a honorable mention for having to fill Jamaal Anderson’s DE spot. That DE spot is also pegged as the 3rd biggest position battle in the SEC by the fanhouse (actually they grouped the DE/LB/DT together).
